Fast food, the new tobacco

Fast food is the new tobacco. I say this because the foods we are consuming are highly addictive and very convenient. Most people have full lives and don't have much time to cook. By the time you get home from work you have to pick up the kids from school, take them to their extra curriculars, then go home cook, and try to prepare them for the next day. Any regular person would be worn out by then. Why not grab something fast to eat before you make your way home. That way the children aren't starving before dinner gets done and you have more time to prepare for the next day. In my opinion the government should step in and regulate the diet and the foods we are consuming. As of lately there have been so many recalls on popular food items and quite frankly it is scary and alarming. People are dying from eating all types of food that you can buy at the grocery store. It seems as if nothing is safe. It kind of makes you question, what is the FDA doing? How were all these foods allowed into the stores for consumers to buy? The documentary "What the health" touched basis on issues of this sort. It alarmed me that the people in North Carolina came in contact with the swine flu. Although more people are shying away from pork there are still people that enjoy it. It's kind of like a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Fast food is slowly killing us and now so are store bought groceries. Would you rather die slowly or die a fast tragic death, now becomes the question?  When it comes to fast food a lot of people do not know their limits and will definitely over do it if given the opportunity. As time goes on we as a community are only getting unhealthier. As Balko stated in his article "What you eat is your business," that others are paying the price of everyone else's choices. I do not fully agree with that because we are all of sound mind and body when we makes these choices unless you are disabled. No one has to pay for the choices others make except that person. We all know what too much fast food does to our bodies but yet we continue to eat it. Some more than others but you get the gist of it. There are a lot more vegans these days. I would not necessarily become vegan because I love meat but I feel that it is a great step in the right direction to becoming healthier. Is becoming vegan really a safer option though? I say this because I've seen a countless amount of videos where they were making fake vegetables and even rice...yes rice. The chemicals that go on the vegetables are harmful to humans and even animals. You are supposed to wash your fruits and vegetables before you consume them but who's to say that the chemicals didn't absorb into the vegetables. The point that I am making is that nothing is safe anymore and you might as well do as you please. If you want to eat a triple cheeseburger than so be it because only you have to deal with the ramifications of that. However as I sated before the government should put a stop to certain items on the menu. Why any person would need a triple cheeseburger is beyond me but hey no one can judge?
